NASA gave its 2011 Commercial Invention of the Year award to the battery-free solar refrigerator David Bergeron developed at Johnson Space Center, the technology SunDanzer was founded on. The award recognizes NASA inventions that have been successfully licensed and brought to market.
That same idea, storing cold instead of electricity, still sits at the heart of our medical refrigerators today.
Global LEAP Awards
The Global LEAP Awards are an international competition that tests off-grid appliances in independent labs and ranks them on energy performance, quality and value. The refrigerator rounds were backed by the U.S. Global Development Lab and the U.K. Department for International Development.
Innovation Prize2016–17 competition
Awarded to the DCR165 for market-leading energy efficiency. The DC160 chest fridge/freezer we sell today is its newest version.
